Summary reminder:
After the death of the young girl Emily Rose, everyone puts blame on the church-sanctioned exorcism which was performed on her by Father Moore (Tom Wilkinson) prior to her death. The priest is arrested on suspicion of murder. The trial begins with lawyer Erin Bruner representing Moore, but it is not going to be easy, as no one wants to believe what Father Moore says is true (That Emily was demonically possessed)
Prosecuting attorney Ethan Thomas (Campbell Scott) contends that the young girl, Emily (Jennifer Carpenter), suffered from schizophrenia and should have been medically diagnosed. Meanwhile, Moore’s defense lawyer Erin Bruner (Laura Linney) argues that Emily’s condition cannot be explained by science alone.
